Sue Tatem has been involved in adaptive sports programs for more than 30 years:  having worked in the ski industry and the adaptive industry across the country. Sue has run adaptive sports programs in Colorado, New Hampshire and Vermont and has been with AbilityPLUS for six years.

Sue's passion for adaptive sports began while in college at the University of Northern Colorado. “There are a number of people in my extended family with some kind of a disability, and it just never seemed like a big deal…it didn’t make any sense to me that everyone couldn’t participate in any activity they'd want to.” Sue has dedicated her career to making sure that everyone does have the opportunity to participate. “I’m especially proud to be directing programs that will never turn anyone away, regardless of their disability, or of their ability or inability to pay. We have a wonderful community of participants, volunteers, sponsors and donors.”

Sue is a PSIA certified ski and adaptive instructor with PSIA Blind DD.  Among her many professional certifications, Sue holds certification in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard, has Level 100 Coaching Certification and sits on the National Standards Committee for Adaptive Sports Equipment.  She has been guest speaker at several conferences, including the 10th Anniversary of the ADA, speaking on Disability Awareness and Education. Since joining AbilityPLUS, Sue has applied her expertise to expanding program offerings and outreach. Sue coordinates and is head coach of the AbilityPLUS Alpine Race Team and is currently launching a new summer adventure sports program.
