STOW, MA—More than 100 golfers, sponsors and volunteers joined to raise $8,000 to support adaptive sports and recreation programs provided by AbilityPLUS for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. Wedgewood Pines Country Club in Stow, MA hosted the annual AbilityPLUS tournament.

Greg Cutler, David Ilsley, Sharon Purtill and John Rossiter combined to win the team title. Kristin Erickson won the women’s longest drive competition with David Hauser taking the men’s longest drive. Scott Brown won honors in the putting contest.

“What a truly remarkable day for our organization and all the families and individuals we serve,” said David Hauser, AbilityPLUSexecutive director. “We’re grateful for the tremendous help volunteers provided to make the tournament possible and to all our sponsors and participating golfers for their support and generosity.  The funds raised will enable us to expand our reach throughout the Northeast.”

AbilityPLUS was founded to offer increased access to athletic and recreational opportunities for individuals with physical and mental disabilities to create freedom, promote independence, support inclusion and help those individuals and their families discover their full social, emotional and athletic potential. AbilityPLUS serves a wide population of people with disabilities, from individuals with severe physical disabilities to people with autism, across the spectrum.   AbilityPLUS is a proud partner of The Wounded Warrior Project, holding several events each season devoted to serving injured returning service members.

Winter programs include skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Throughout the rest of the year, AbilityPLUSoffers waterskiing, hiking, biking, kayaking and golf. Programs are offered at a number of winter and summer resorts across New England.
